Today was a full afternoon/evening of exploring at JEM with my mom and JCH. Its our first visit and i am impressed by the mall. Quite a good place to go, and i would say it is stroller friendly. Plus, it just set the new high standards for family room and diaper station! Ok, one by one.
Stroller friendly
Once i reach the ticket concourse of Jurong East station, follow the signs to the gantry exit to JEM/j-walk (a fancy name for the connecting bridge) and its a breeze crossing over to the mall from the station with a stroller. The bridge leads to L2 of JEM. Once inside the mall, corridors are spacious, except where there are lifts, its a bit tight to maneuver. There's 2 lift cores housing a total of 5 lifts (if i remember correct, 3 lifts and 2 lifts). So, plenty of lifts for stroller-babies. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ All the family rooms and diaper stations are roomy for strollers, i think even able to accommodate double strollers in diaper stations.

Family rooms
Family rooms are located at B1, L3 and L5. There is only one family room per each of the mentioned levels. The other signage leads to diaper station. But fret not, there's space aplenty in the family rooms. I checked out the L3 family room, it has: a a full body mirror next to entrance, hot/cold water dispenser, 2 wash basins c/w soap point+towel dispenser+bins under basin, a toilet for adult and kid (refer picture for items in toilet) and 3 feeding rooms c/w a cushioned sofa+full body mirror+room for stroller and husband and children. Each rooms and the toilet has sliding door with lock from the inside. And the wallpapers in each room are absolutely cutesy and not too bright that JCH gets distracted from his feasting. Sometimes when the wallpapers are too catchy, JCH gets too distracted to feast properly. But downside is the door doesn't cover all the way to the floor. It has a high enough gap for a child to crawl through so you may want to park the stroller just at the door to deter any active children from crawling in, or have someone police the door. I would assume the same layout for the other 2 levels but to be confirmed.

Diaper stations
Diaper stations are located on every floor. Just follow the signage. And it is very very spacious. It is basically a toilet with lots of space plus a collapsible Combi child seat and a foldable Combi changing station (refer picture) and everything else that can be found in the family rooms' toilet. The Combi changing station is my favourite bcos the belt is retractable, keeping the space neat and free of dangling or jammed belts and the pad is slightly cushioned, not hard like what i usually find elsewhere.

I really love love that the family rooms has toilet!! Often times i find myself having to scuttle from the family room to a handicap toilet and people sometimes will tell me (when they see me pushing stroller into the handicap toilet) that there is a family room/diaper station further down and i have to say "i know, but now im using the toilet" like its so obvious can! And even more love love that there is diapering station AND child seat in the toilet! Whenever i put JCH to change his diapers, i would let him lie a little longer for him to stretch and turn around after a long time in the stroller. So i love this convenience. And they call it diaper changing station. Nono, its not handicap toilet. They have normal male/female gang toilet and a handicap toilet AND a diaper changing station IN A SPECIAL TOILET!! Like good right cos usually handicap toilets get quite yucky sometimes.
I am so won over by the baby-friendly facilities there, that i might consider going there abit more often! Hahaha..it has surpassed Vivo City in terms of the quality of the baby-friendly facilities. Pushed the standards up a notch! So happys~~~i can't believe how the facilities made me so happy today!! So happy i got over my sadness like really fast. Gosh, so auntie! T.T I'm serious. Like these days, the mood that i have in a certain mall is quite influenced by the quality of baby-friendly facilities and stroller-friendliness. It also determines how often i will visit the mall. It didn't even matter so much to me in the past, whether the gang toilets are very good or not. But it matters the world now to me whether the family room/diaper changing station are clean and friendly. What a big difference.
JCH had a whale of time laughing each time i take him out of his stroller and onto the changing pad bcos my mom keeps playing with him. Oh if anyone wonders how can i be so brave to put his napkin pillow on the changing pads. No i'm not brave. I have wiped down (twice!!) the change pad with dettol wipes and dried it with tissue and no, i usually wouldn't put pillow, in this case my mom insisted i put.
So this is Tuesday 16Jul for us! JCH got so tired at the end of the day that he fell asleep drinking his last bottle for the day! Haha! Nites all!
