Catch-up! Thrush madness and Bioskin pampering~~

Been such a whirlwind for these 3days. Cancelled a playdate and missed a seminar because of all the things to be cleaned since JCH's got doctor's confirmation on his thrush status. Spotted the first sign of thrush (whitish marks on his lower lips, not milk curds cos can't be wiped off) on Saturday while at my mom's place. By Sunday morning it has spread over to his upper lips too. But thank God that its not causing him any pain, feedings as usual, no fever, still sleeping, playing and smiling.

Finally got to see the GP downstairs (hub's regular doctor) on Monday night, after I got home with JCH on finishing my afternoon Bioskin appointment and dinner with mom (more about Bioskin laters). Got a prescription for Daktarin oral gel for application to the spots where the thrush are at. Had to go to external pharmacy to buy. Guess it's because they don't handle much of such cases to stock on Daktarin. It's quite a good one I guess! Applied it for 3 times on Tuesday evening/night, and come Wednesday morning, its like barely there! GP had recommended applying 3 times throughout the day, and a 4th time just before baby sleeps so that the gel stays in the mouth and works overnight.

The first time I tried applying Daktarin, JCH was crying mad crazy bcos he can't get to sleep. So read quickly through the instruction leaflet and smeared a thin layer over his pacifier for him to suck. It is a sticky gel, meant to be this way so that it can stay as long as possible in the baby's mouth. So only a thin layer is to be applied to prevent baby from choking on swallowing the sticky gel. After that, I've used cotton buds to apply. Felt that it is so much easier and cleaner also, to use cotton buds instead of my finger. The cotton bud sweeps smoothly across the inner lips, especially at the area where the front teeth are meant to be. Just dispose of the cotton bud after using. Easy peasy~~and KS me would always apply a very thin layer on his pacifier for him to suck so that some of the gel gets on his tongue as well. He wouldn't let me apply the gel on his tongue using either my finger or the cotton bud, so, have to do the pacifier style.

Now, the thrush is like almost gone totally. But have to follow through the 10 days application course as recommended on the leaflet. Better be safe than sorry, total elimination!!

Also, to further prevent re-introduction of the thrush spores, I had to scramble to wash all his bedsheets (in cot and playpen), bolster and pillows and covers, toys, blankets (cot and stroller ones), cot bumper, stroller cushion blahblah, basically, anything and everything that he can lay his tiny hands on or plop his mouth to suck on, as all these things would have thrush spores all over them. Did a wipe down of his cot, stroller and bumbo chair+table as well. A LOT OF WASHING, DRYING, KEEPING AND WIPING DOWN!! ( T.T ) My hands always get wrinkly after 10min. Thankfully for my secret weapon, my peeling condition wasn't very bad! In fact, I had minimum peel! YES!! It is the L'Occitane balm! Whether its the 100% (8ml) balm, or the 40% (50ml) Mom & Baby balm, it works wonders. Just scoop up a little dollop (size of a barley before cooking), add it to any hand lotions and you have a protective and extra moisturizing hand lotion. I have just bought the 40% M&B balm, and I think its more useful for me now; I can just sweep up a thin layer on my finger pad and apply to JCH's nappy rash (he's having it bcos of the thrush)! Its light and thin enough to be done that way. With the 100%, I will have to warm it so that it can spread out and then apply.

And thanks for a dear friend's reminder of the vinegar solution, I could stay off wash soaps as much as possible for the wipe downs, and also salt. I tell you, if I use salt, I can be KS enough to use 2 packets of commercial salt for the wipe down! Plus the vinegar solution worked wonders in lifting and wiping off stubborn oil stains. I've done it and its possible.

So, mad rush in washing on Monday night and Tuesday! Tuesday was mad rush in shopping for items too. Had to go out and buy Daktarin, so might as well do all my grocery shopping all at once! Including buying my long awaited pan for cooking and organic rice. Gonna skip all fruits and veggies puree until next week, worry that the mild acidity might sting JCH should any part of the thrush have ulceration.

And time for my favourite part now~~my Bioskin birthday treat!! *swoons* I had an account with them, so they have been mailing me birthday treats. BUT, I have always forgotten to redeem it until now! They gave a complimentary treatment session for me and a recommended friend. So I went with my mom; while I'm having my treatment session, mom will jagah JCH for me and vice versa. I love pampering, who doesn't?? *teehee*

What we had was their Aging Skin treatment "Intensive Cryo Ionto/Meso Face Treatment", can read more by clicking on the name of the treatment, its linked. The cocktail we had was Stem Cell. The whole session goes like this: (1) Cleanse face, (2) Using an equipment to increase the cocktail serum absorption+awaken your skin cells, (3) Mask application. For step 2, the equipment probe that comes in contact with the face, is cold. Coldness as I know, helps to calm sensitive skin by desensitising it. And in this case, the service lady was telling me the probe helps to improve blood circulation at the face, and also increases serum absorption, And this cocktail serum is suppose to "awaken" your deeper skin cells to promote regeneration and hence show rejuvenated skin. Through the whole 45min~1hr session, the lady told me what she was going to do before actually doing it, including that the probe is going to be cold. By the way, we visited the Jurong East outlet. I am quite impressed by the room too. Though its small, but it has an individual FCU (or aircon unit layman's term), so it's possible to adjust temperature. Any ladies who's been for facial would know, that we would be provided with a 'blanket' which is more often than not, really just a bigger and lil' thicker piece of towel. Even with 2 pieces, it will still be shivering cold especially after the cold air blow to close the pores. But at the Bioskin JE, we really had blanket blanket. So it really wasn't cold. It was so comfy to just lie there and sleep throughout the whole treatment.

For me, it was a comfortable experience, though I still am not very happy with the sales attitude of Bioskin people. Which is why I only have an account, but no package. I tried their "Bio P2X Acne Face Treatment" before, and totally sold by it. You know how one have to always endure the squeezing of blackheads and pimples in a facial session? Well obviously Bioskin has gone high tech and used a vacuum to suck out the blackheads and pimples. How's that? Obviously lovely right? No pain, and no red face. I was still in university when I first tried it for one session. I returned for a second session, and was to sign a package for this treatment. I was told that they could accept my deposit of a certain amount, and then I could sign for instalment for the remaining $500 (that was my credit limit at that time). But my card wasn't activated yet, and the lady said its ok for me to return next day to sign the package. Alas when I returned the next day, I was told the lady was not around and I cannot sign for the package via the way I was promised. They wanted me to hand cash or sign full for the remaining, no instalment. So pissed off I just left my deposit hanging there. So that's why I have an account, but no active package.

Because of my previous experience, I was quite turned off when they asked me for deposit again. First scheduled for appointment last Monday, but in my haste to leave house, I left my vouchers at home. Upon reaching JE (the same day I visited JEM), I realized that and called the outlet, asking if we could still proceed with the appointment. What I got over the phone was "my in-charge is busy with another client now. I need to ask her and call you back soon". Fine. from around 1:45pm till 3:30pm, no call. Walked over to the outlet, the "in-charge" I suppose, says cannot proceed, must produce the vouchers. And she went on to say "why not since you are here, you can pay a deposit first and we can proceed with the treatment. Then you bring your vouchers back another day for us, and we return you your deposit". Seriously, I don't think this is company policy. It sounds every bit like a trap to freeze your deposit. Just like my previous deposit, I was initially told I could exchange for any product. But now I'm told its locked for that package only. I'm pretty sure their computer system has sufficient data for me to proceed on with the service. But fine, I shall let go on this. Asking for deposit? Entrapment.

Unfortunately when I was waiting for my mom to be done, it appears that another lady (now!!) was facing a problem signing her package as well. So, please only do all the necessary signing and payment when you are ready. Don't buy into their "you can come back tomorrow" or "you can go to the nearest outlet, it's ok I will inform them" sayings. You are taking a risk and it's not worth it. So sad, that they have good treatments, but bad customer sales and service. So be warned. If for any reason, you can't finish the payment process, do not hand any deposit to them. Just go back another day to do everything in one breath. Even if they say "price won't remain the same", just walk away.

Alrighty then, done with my mighty posting now. Bwahahaha! Shall post this first and upload pictures tomorrow. Bcos all the pictures are in my handphone, and having had 3 posts being "locked up" by the Blogger app and all 3 had pictures, I shall now do a habit of publishing written post first, and then adding pictures the next day.

Nighty!
