Friday..hmm..had breakfast+lunch together with some friends and pass all the overdue stuff to them. Been a long time since we last met. Been a long time since i had my favourite western food!! Yums!! And it was a rush to go get my flowers (~~~~) and make my way home with JCH. The florist was quite thoughtful to give me a plastic bag for the flowers on seeing that i was having JCH in carrier.
*typing blog entry while watching running man and laughing madly is really..very challenging for my memory..oh my stomach!!*
Reached home, fed JCH, and had a nap with him while putting him to sleep. At times when he wants you to be next to him while he sleeps, it is NEVER DIFFICULT to fall asleep with him. Luckily managed to wake up in time to finish packing the things to bring out and prepare feeding for baby. Grabbed 3 avocados from the ntuc nearby, had planned to mash it and add into the cereal to give it some variety and feed JCH avo-cereal at my grandma's place. Its not in plan to feed him avo-cereal this week bcos we dun have much time at home this week to feed cereals. But he hasn't been drinking his usual bottles for the past few days, and abit worried about him not getting enough. But it was a big mistake. More on this later.
While all these was going on at my end, at the other end, my brother (XL) was enjoying his graduation ceremony!! Well deserved!! Which also means, he'll be facing the next phase of uncertainty - preceded by many others such as which secondary school will one get in, which poly/JC will one get in, which uni will one get in - of looking for the full time job. Many of us has been through all of this, and quite frankly speaking for myself, after my second company, i don't really think or plan alot about which company am i going to get in for the third. Rather, it was more of a should-i-still-stay-in-this-industry. Anyways, i'm out of working outside and getting into working at home aka SAHM!! Haha!! I certainly do hope that he'll be able to get a first boss that's not too bad so his working nightmare wouldn't start so soon. XD And along with him, some boys from the church's soccer team and a friend's daughter also graduated from SIM on the same day!!
So! Grabbed avocado from ntuc (checked!), got into a cab (checked!), reached SIM to pick up brothers and mother and we are headed to grandma's place! Mom was saying that grandma hasn't been feeling quite well recently. Well, guess it comes with age. Especially for my grandma's generation, they worked all their life, giving themselves to the sustenance of the family and neglecting their own health. Grandma was really happy to see JCH, and when he chuckles and gaggles at her, she laughed. Been a while since i hear her laughed heartily. Nowadays, hubs and i have been trying to arrange bringing JCH to visit my grandma as often as we can. Afterall, she's like in her eighties already. No one can ever know what will happen from now on. We had learnt this lesson in very unexpected circumstances and learnt it hard with FIL's passing on 5 years ago.
From my oldest cousin brother, to my youngest brother, 5 of us spent the most time with my grandma cos we were in her daycare daily when we were small children. Still remember the times spent at grandma's previous house at Bukit Batok. We would sometimes have overnight stays there, all sleeping in the living room watching horror HK movies, eating Maggi Mee cooked by my aunt, with my oldest cousin brother freaking us younger ones out after the show. And we would be afraid to go to the kitchen toilet alone becos next to the toilet door, was a window with a view of the a BIG tree canopy that's totally dark in the night and that was freaky to us. Plus the toilet door back then was those metal kind with a hook (aluminium? zinc? can't remember..), and someone will surely be outside knocking or banging the door suddenly to ensure the person inside screamed. Or the times when grandma would bring us downstairs for a little fun at the playground or to buy snacks at the mama shop downstairs, we would all run out of the lift as soon as the door opens at 1st storey with my grandma shouting behind us "don't run so fast! wait for ahma!". Hahaha, those were the memorable days we had together. And its ever the more precious now with the children these days fixated on gadgets we didn't think would possibly exist in the past. They are missing out on the plain childhood fun of running around, screaming and shouting, playing with neighborhood kids that we would meet randomly at the playground or basketball court, mini-shopping at mama shop, and not forgetting planting "bombs" under the sands of the playground! I miss playgrounds having sands instead of EPDM (correct? have not used this term since like 2 years ago..).
So sfter a while of playing with JCH, and post dinner tabao-ed by my aunt, XL donned his graduation gown for photo taking with grandma and all of us. Grandma made a remark regarding her state of happiness: that she may not be educated and not be street smart aka ah gong, but all her grandchildren (my 2 cousins, me, XL, grad-in-the-making XY, and cousin's wifey) are university graduates and she is very happy. Well, after my youngest brother XY, we have one more younger cousin brother WL, and 2 cousin sisters EY and ET. I think our parents have made my grandma proud that they are all filial children, and we made her even happier and prouder of the fact that we are all graduates and also grandchildren who makes a point to visit her once in a while. For the life that she had, i'm glad to have been able to make her happy and proud.
Oh and i promised the avocado from NTUC story. Well, it was the second time that i had to purchase avocados. The first purchase was made at Cold Storage, and the avocados were totally ripe and easy to process. So on Friday, went to NTUC in a rush to grab some avocados, i realized that the colours were different from those i had bought from Cold Storage. The green was lighter, all of it looked the same. So i just grabbed 3 of it (3 for $2.88) and rushed off. At grandma's place, I could hardly put the knife through it! That's when i know, the lighter the green, it means its not yet ripened enough. GOSH!! No avocado for JCH then, just plain cereal. Now, there are some things that one can just grab and buy from NTUC, and there are some others more angmoh kind of things that one would really have to buy from Cold Storage. :P
